The Priv V8 is a very simple and basic DL (direct lung inhale) vaping mod from SMOK, for starters who are looking to replace hookah (Shisha), and still want to enjoy the clouds and flavor. It’s small size and light weight are great, but it does not provide much features. It has standard settings that you cannot change, same as MTL pods.
The Kit Content:
The SMOK Priv comes with the following:
1* Priv V8 Mod / 1*TFV8 Baby tank / 1* V8 Baby-M2 (2.5 Ohm Dual Coils) (Pre-installed) / 1* V8 Baby-M2 (2.5 Ohm Dual Coils) / 1*Replacement glass tube / 1* USB charging cable / Spare parts / 1* User manual.
Design and Material:
The SMOK Priv V8 really does come in a vast array of color combination (15 color options are available). This is probably the largest set of standard designs I’ve ever seen on a vape. Personally, I find the multi-coloured ones pretty hideous, but some of the matte colour schemes (black and red, for example), are pretty cool. Of course, each to their own. It’s a pretty slim-line design for a box mod, which is nice and features a large fire button.
Size and Weight:
The Priv V8 really is very light and compact. It’s reasonably powerful for a DL basic device, and it’s nice to see that power come in a vape that won’t make your pockets bulge. There’s enough weight to it that it’s satisfying, but it’s barely noticeable in your pocket. This is the kind of vape you could quite easily bring to work in the inside pocket of your jacket, and no one would even notice it. I think it is a great device, especially for girls and women.
Battery, Power and Charging:
The Priv V8 uses a removable 18650 rechargeable battery. It runs off a single battery and can reach up to 60W, so the battery life could be better but will at least last you a work day. There’s nothing to let you know how much battery life you have left, which I do not like, but there’s an LED system to let you know when it is fully charged. There are a number of systems in place to make sure that charging in the vape won’t damage the life of the battery. And 60W is more than enough for a great DL vaping experience.
Note: The batteries aren’t included, so really the battery-life will be dependent on how much you spend on the batteries.
Tank:
The Priv V8 comes with a TFV8 Baby tank. It fits 3ml, which for a 60W device is fine. It’s a top-filling (as is just about everything, these days) so it’s easier to refill and to clean. The tank is positioned on the side of the body, which means it would be difficult to swap it for a larger tank. It has a removable drip-tip so if you want to change the diameter of material, that’s possible.
Note: Since this mod is not adjustable, you cannot use MTL (mouth-to-lung) tanks with it, since most of the MTL coils work on a range of 11-13W. So this mod will destroy and burn the MTL coils.
Coil:
The Priv V8 comes with a pre-installed V8 Baby-M2 0.24 Ohm coil and another spare one. It is compatible with traditional Baby Beast Coils but is specifically designed for the Baby-M2, so in my opinion, it’s better to stick with them. Regarding the amount of clouds and flavor, it is pretty average.
Airflow System:
The Priv V8 has a sliding airflow system similar to most box mods. It’s fine and gives you a reasonable amount, should you want it, but it’s pretty stiff and difficult to move. If your hands sweat, it’s going to be difficult to change the flow.
Usability and Coil Installation:
To change the coil, you need to twist off the base of the tank which is near fucking impossible. I’ve never had this much difficulty removing a tank base. It took me a good 15 minutes to get it off. If you’re a body-builder, you should be fine. If not, you’ll struggle. Since the device is so simple with just one button, so it is easy to use!!
Isolation:
It’s OK. there’s no major issues but I did notice the drip-tip got a bit hot after prolonged use, but nothing important.
Software:
Nothing to say. There is no option to talk about, just the LEDs which shows that it is fully charged, but nothing about charging level. You cannot adjust any settings. The only good thing about it is the battery safety functions as mentioned above. This device certainly goes for looks over substance.
Price:
Not very good at all. An average device with pretty average flavour. The same amount of money can get you much more.

SMOK Priv V8 Kit
If you are a vaper already, then the SMOK Priv V8 is a pretty poor device. Yet, it might be a good option for starters who need a basic and simple DL device. The colorful options, small size, and light weight is a good fit for girls and women. But in general, this is a short term vape and cannot be your main vape device to depend on.
